The Galloway Township Office of Emergency Management (OEM) is excited to introduce CEDRON—the Community Emergency/Disaster Radio Operations Network—a new program designed to help our community stay connected during emergencies.

When severe weather, power outages, or other disasters occur, cell phones and landlines don’t always work—and emergency call centers can quickly become overwhelmed. CEDRON provides an additional way for residents and local organizations to share urgent information and request assistance using simple two-way radios, even when other systems are down.

Through CEDRON, approved participants can report emergency needs or hazardous conditions directly to the Township’s Emergency Operations Center. At the same time, OEM can share important updates such as evacuation information, shelter locations, and safety messages that participants can pass along to family, neighbors, and coworkers.

Community radio networks like CEDRON have played a critical role in keeping people informed during disasters across the country. Now, Galloway Township is bringing that same level of preparedness home.

CEDRON is open to residents, first responders, managers of critical facilities, and trained weather observers who obtain a GMRS license and complete a brief training session.
